Man Dies After Doctors Failed To Attend To Him

An innocent young man has lost his life at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi after doctors failed to attend to him following the strike by the Ghana Medical Association.

According to a close relation, the deceased, was involved in a car accident and was admitted at the Tamale Teaching Hospital but due to his condition, he was transferred to the Komfo Anokye Hospital for further treatment. “My brother was transferred to Komfo Anokye from Tamale three days ago but no one has come to treat him aside from some of the nurses”he said on an Accra based radio station.

According to sources, the deceased was taken to the children’s ward due to a meeting which was being held at the main ward. He said, after some of the doctors realized his condition was worsening, they decided to attend to him but he passed on. “It is unfortunate that, the man has lost his life after he failed to survive on his own without any medical assistance from the doctors” he added. The Ghana Medical Association(GMA) declared a partial strike action on July 30, 2015 as part of measures to resign from the public service should government fail to provide them with a document stating their conditions of service.
