Ghana’s former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has alleged that Ghanaian journalists have been paid to keep silent while the country collapses.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony of Nhyira Prophetic Training Institute, the founder of National Democratic Party (NDP), said although the media is witnessing the gradual collapse of the country’s economy, they are silent due to the fact that they have been paid.

This, she described as bad especially as the poor Ghanaian are at the receiving end of the intense suffering in the country. “There is a gripping hole, the country is collapsing, we don’t hear anything from our journalists, they are happy because they are being paid monies, they keep quiet and expect someone to talk, we cannot leave this country to continue to be like that, we cannot…,” she said.

Nana Konadu who claimed she is worried about how the country is being run by the current administration called on for the truth to be proclaimed all the time to expose wrongdoers.

“We should all be worried about how our country is going today…and I am not happy about this.

“It takes the leadership of our priests, of our bishops, of our pastors and indeed the new pastors to give us the examples so we can emulate,” she said.

Sixteen new pastors were graduated into the theological world.
