NDC Chairman Arrested

National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman for the Lower Manya Krobo constituency in the Eastern Region, David Walter Hormenu, has been arrested by the police. The Krobo Odumase police is holding Mr Hormenu, aka Action Man, because he is alleged to have organisedthree macho men on Wednesday to manhandle one Francis Narh-Korli, a party activist whom he accused of embarking on an illegal registration of party members. Narh-Korlis father, Geoffrey, who is currently in the United States, is said to be gearing up to contest the ruling partys parliamentary primaries to be held on November 7; and his purported decision might have incurred the displeasure of the chairman who is said to be a supporter of the incumbent Member of Parliament. According to reports, the macho men were sent by the MP of Lower Many Krobo, Okletey Terlabi, through the chairman to attackthe NDC activist. The three stoutly-built men were said to have also been arrested and are currently assisting the police to investigate the matter. DAILY GUIDElearnt that Francis Narh-Korli, former deputy organiser aspirant, was allegedly registering members of the NDC, which the chairman suspected was going to enhance his (Narh-Korlis) fathers chance in the parliamentary race, and so he (chairman) allegedly brought in the strong men to attack him (Narh-Korli). Reports indicated that the macho men stormed the house of the victim, allegedly assaulted him and took away some of his belongings, including an undisclosed amount of money in United States dollars. Reports say the NDC constituency chairman also suspected that the formerLower Manya MCE, Isaac Tetteh Agbo and Michael Teye Nyaunu, a former MP, were also preparing to contest the incumbent MP and were engaging in illegal registration to get their favourite delegates to vote against the incumbent. ASP Harry Selormey, the Odumase Krobo Police Commander, when contact byDAILY GUIDE,said he could not comment on the matter to the media. The Somanya police chief only admitted that the suspects were in his custody and were being investigated and that the matter was being withdrawn for settlement at home since its a party matter. Media War Tension is brewing in the constituency as the four aspiring candidates and the incumbent are engaged in hot verbal exchanges dominated by insults on radio stations in the area. Michael Teye Nyaunu aka MTN, reacting to the turn of events onRite FM, a Somanya-based radio station, heavily descended on the chairman and the MP for their behaviours, calling them fools for causing problems in the constituency. What a foolish act! I pity them because they think only about their own interests. How come a common party chairman like you, David Walter, organised macho men to attack a party official? Are you a private security operator? the controversial former MP fumed on air. The angry former MP further charged the security agencies to intervene and calm the situation before it gets out of hand. The former MCE, Isaac Tetteh Agbo, in his reaction, also descended on the incumbent MP for hiring the macho men to harass some of the party officials. The constituency chairman, when contacted byDAILY GUIDE, debunked the allegation but rather stated that it was some of the party members who went to Francis Narh-Korlis house to verify the allegation of illegal registration of members. He insisted that he never organised macho men to assault the gentleman as claimed, adding that due to the upcoming primaries, some unknown members of the party were embarking on an illegal registration exercise. However, a police source hintedDAILY GUIDEthat the chairman had admitted at the police station that he indeed sent the hoodlums to attack Francis Narh-Korli.
