Ashongman local Council of Churches organizes fun games

The Local Council of Churches (LCC) in Ashongman, on Saturday organized Fun Games for churches to foster unity and friendliness towards peaceful existence. The event was also to create awareness on the importance of regular exercises and an opportunity for members to socialize and network towards national development. The disciplines include Football, Volley ball, Draft, Ludu, tag of peace, musical chairs, dancing and Oware. Reverend Emmanuel Owusu Aboagye, Acting Chairman of the LCC, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said, the Council constitutes 18 Churches in the vicinity, and that, the games was part of the Council�s activities to inculcate the spirit of togetherness among Christians. He said the Council�s has developed a sound doctrine for members, and had organized bible week celebrations, carols night and home coming weeks, to instill good Christian values. Rev Aboagye, who is also the Pastor in charge, Church of Pentecost, reiterated the Council�s committed to the promotion of members� good welfare, health and social development. He noted that, the Christian Religion and for that Christians, are peaceful and appealed to members of the churches to contribute immensely towards the advancement and development of the council. Rev Aboagye said the Council serves as community ambassadors, in ensuring sound community development and had initiated the construction of the Atomic Hills Estate Police station to curb criminal activities. He urged the youth to be assertive and abhor social vices that will affect their careers, and that, they should put up good behaviors since they are the future leaders of the nation. Mr Solomon Boafo, Secretary of the LCC said, the event was the first of its kind and hopes to institute it as an annual activity to strengthen unity among member churches. He said ten Churches are participating in the fun games, including the St Mark Catholic Church, Church of Pentecost, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Church of Christ, United Church, Assemblies of God, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Eagle Wings Church, Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the International Central Gospel Church. Mr Boafo said the winning team would be presented with a silver trophy and certificates and an award for best player, goal king and best goal keeper.
