I'll Will Fix Dumsor - Prez Mahama Reaffirms

President John Mahama has reaffirmed he will fix the energy crisis currently plaguing the country.

Speaking at the just-ended 20th GJA awards, the president thanked Ghanaians for their patience and said all hands should be on deck in dealing with the power crisis once and for all.

“This year in the state of the nation address I made a promise to fix the energy challenge and I believe we can fix the challenge with the support of all Ghanaians,” he stated. The president reemphasized his claim that an enduring solution was being sought for a problem that has endured for more than three years.

“It is easy to have quick fixes but what we need in Ghana today is a permanent fix that will not only ensure energy security for us but to leverage our comparative advantage in energy supply to become the hub for power supply in West Africa,” President stressed.

Ghanaians, especially those in cities and towns have had to endure excruciating power cuts as the authorities ration power. Shortfalls in power generation have necessitated this. Government is bringing in emergency power barges and plants to try and shore up the generation capacity.

Economic growth has been affected in unimaginable ways because of the energy crisis.

Addressing Ghanaians in his state of the address to parliament early this year, the president said, “I John Dramani Mahama will fix this power crisis.” He has repeatedly said he is committed to keep the promise even if previous promises were broken.
