NPPs Anti-Volta Region And Ewes Must Stop - Koku Anyidoho Warns

The press conference organized by the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] to highlight on it findings that Ghana’s voters register has been bloated with Togolese nationals did not sink down well with the deputy General Secretary of the ruling NDC, Koku Anyidoho.

He has described the opposition NPP’s findings as ‘disingenuous’ meant to portray and corner the people of Volta region as a group of people who are not part of the country.

The NPP’s investigation team fished out 76,286 voters with the same names and faces on the Ghanaian and Togolese voters registers. This was made known by the party’s vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as he illustrated during a power point presentation.

"Many of the pictures of the Togolese citizens on Ghana’s register were not taken in a live environment but rather scanned from existing pictures and documents," Dr. Bawumia asserted.

In response, Koku Anyidoho warned on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show that “NPP’s anti-Volta region and Ewes must stop”.

Buttressing his point further, the NDC deputy Chief Scribe alleged that the NPP’s Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has described ‘Voltarians’ as hostile to the NPP when he went to London last two months ago.

He said the attitude of Voltarians towards the NPP is changing; but where really lies the NPP's hostility towards Volta region? It is the stronghold of NDC, no too ways about that but Ashanti region and other regions are strongholds of the NPP but the NDC has never said that Ashanti region is hostile to the NDC; If we have issues with the region, we raise them but we have never said anywhere that Ashanti region is hostile to the NDC,” he indicated.

He wondered why the NPP which was borne out of the UP Tradition has not learned any lesson to stop targeting and tagging ‘Voltarians” negatively.

Reacting to the question why NDC also staged a counter-press conference, Koku Anyidoho said his party has a responsibility to Ghanaians and so they have every right to comment and educate the public on NPP’s statement about the voters’ register if other political parties are not interested.
