Striking Doctors Blues: Where's The Health Minister?...He Must Intervene! - Atik Mohammed

Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed, has appealed to Health Minister Dr. Kwaku Agyemang Mensah to intervene for the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to call off their strike.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed noted that it behoves the Health Minister to do everything possible to convince the striking doctors to repeal their decision and resume work.

According to him, the Minister may earn a "bad name" should he fail in this regard.

This is because, he explained, it will be noted in Ghana's history that it was during the Health Minister's tenure that the country lost several lives in the impasse between the GMA and the government.

When they’re writing the history of this country in relation to the health sector, whenever your name is mentioned; the next thing that comes is that it was during your tenure that Ghanaian doctors went on strike. And you failed to do something about it resulting in the deaths of several Ghanaians. That is the only thing you will be remembered for.”

He advised the Health Minister to be "more than worked up to ensure the doctors resume work because it’s not going to be a good legacy. It’s not going to be a good reminder that you once served as a health Minister.”
