Man, 40, Jailed 10 Years For Stealing From Employer

A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by an Accra Circuit Court for stealing 80 pieces of Holland wax prints, electrical bulbs, and an unspecified number of bed sheets.

The convict, Bright Dogbey, a resident of Ashaiman, was employed by Theophilus Kofi Debra in June 2014 to work in his house and also live with him.

The accused had access to the keys to all the rooms in the house.

On December 17, 2014, Kofi Debra left his house to visit a friend, only to return to realise that Bright had bolted with all his belongings, including his savings box containing GH¢1,700.

This prompted him to search the remaining rooms in his house to check whether the convict had taken anything from there.

In the store room, he realised the convict had made away with 80 pieces of Holland wax prints, which he later sold to a teacher at Tudu.

He then reported the case to the Ayimensah Police, and upon a sustained search, the convict was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was subsequently charged with the offence.
