Nana Konadu Rawlings Is Done With NDC

The National Democratic Party (NDP) has stated clearly that it’s leader, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has no intentions of re-joining the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The statement follows media reports that the leadership of the governing NDC is frantically making efforts to woo the former first lady back to their fold.

The former NDC Vice Chair fell out with the party after her defeat to the late President Mills at the party’s congress, in the lead up to the 2012 elections.

She subsequently formed and led the NDP but was disqualified by the Electoral Commission from contesting the 2012 election because of administrative issues.

Speaking to Citi News, the Communication Director of the NDP, Ernest Owusu Bempah said Nana Konadu is currently busy with positioning the NDP to win power in 2016.

“We have to make it clear that Nana Konadu has no intentions of joining the National Democratic Congress. She is done with the National Democratic Congress. She is now concentrating on building our party, building a party that will be a formidable force to wrestle power from the NDC in the 2016 elections.

“There are a lot of people within the National Democratic Congress going out there, spreading false rumours that she is about joining the NDC because they want to use that to suit their own political whims and caprices.Everybody knows that Nana Konadu was the pivit of the NDC organisational strategy and now that the key architect of the strategist is gone, they are hallucinating, thinking that she is going to join the party but that will not work,” he said.

The NDC is taking it’s preparations for the 2016 elections to the next stage on Thursday, when they open nominations for parliamentary aspirants.
