NDC Organizer Balks At Party GuidelinesStill Holds Current Position As She Contests Primaries

Pressure is mounting on the National and Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to disqualify the Lower West Akim Constituency Organizer, Madam Shirley Naana Osei Ampem, from contesting the party primaries in the constituency.

According to information, the decision by Naana Osei Ampem to contest the party primaries in the Constituency whilst holding on to her position as the Constituency Chairperson is against the party’s laid down rules governing the coming primaries

Per the party’s rule, persons holding executive positions and willing to contest for Parliamentary positions must resign their earlier positions before contesting.

However, indications are that she has failed to resign from her position yet continues to erect banners and posters of her campaign towards the primaries without informing other Regional and National Executives of the party.

The development is however bringing some anger to the party leadership within the Constituency as well as delegates who are calling on the party National Executives to disqualify her during the vetting process. “She must not be allowed to go for vetting,” an angry party faithful said.

According to them, she is not ready to relinquish her current position and that she is not only trying to smuggle her way through with the support of some influential individuals but also disregarding party guidelines.
They claim she has no respect for the party laws and must be stopped her from going through the vetting.

She is also accused of picking the nomination forms clandestinely since she knew very well that she had to resign her earlier position before doing so, and that she has been dishonest to the party, its leadership, and the guidelines for that matter with her failure to resign her position before vying for the Parliamentary primaries.

They indicated that failure of national executives to stop her from contesting the primaries and her intention to disrespect party structure and discipline, shall be met with the strongest resistance with its attendant consequences for the party in the constituency.
