Ghanaians Suffering In Trinidad & Tobago Prison

Reports filed by a Ghanaian security personnel, Mr. William Amoah in Trinidad and Tobago, says Ghanaian prisoners in the country are suffering like slaves due to the treatment given them by prison guards and officials of the Trinidad and Tobago government. Expressing his sadness on Peace FM, Mr. Amoah revealed that there are several prisoners from different countries in Trinidad & Tobago but the prison guards appear to hate blacks, and so the kind of treatment they give them is awful. They are being starved to death and if you happen to see their sleeping place, youll cry for them, Mr. Amoah said. Giving the causes of their arrest, he disclosed that they were mainly arrested for not possessing the required documents to live in the country. He described prison officials in Trinidad and Tobago as wicked.According to him, the whole countrys population is about 1.6million but it is believed that they kill about 500 people a year. He alleged that the county has killed about 300 people this year alone. He therefore appealed to the Ghanaian government to come to the aid of its citizens in that country. Trinidad and Tobago lies outside the hurricane belt. Unlike other English speaking Caribbean nations, Trinidad and Tobagos economy is primarily industrial, with emphasis on petroleum and petrochemicals. As at the year 2005, its population was 1.3million.
