My Advice To Afriyie-Acquah...

“Monkey no fine but his mother like am,” my mind made mockery of me as I wrote these words. “This is insane,” it continued!!!! It was a very intense scuffle between my heart and my mind as I laid hold of my pen to write this article.

Why in the world would you think you should advise a “monkey” (a name given to him by his wife) to hold on to his “Jezeebel?” My mind was now furiously ranting. “Did you not make any sense of what Dan Kweku Yeboah had written?” It demanded angrily!! My heart was now very nervous in anticipation of where my mind wanted to lead me. It wasn’t long before I eventually arrived. The words of Peace FM’s Sports Editor resonated very clear and loud in my ears, “Why would any young man beginning life marry a divorcee? ”Empowered by these words, my mind further pressed, “he choose his destiny, don’t sympathize with him, as he brought his argument to close; content and confident that it had finally convinced me to utterly condemn the beleaguered footballer’sspouse, Amanda, popularly referred to as“Jezeebel” courtesy, Dan Kweku Yeboah. My mind now decided it was time for a break and insisted I get myself a ball of Banku; a call I heeded to without any reservations.

Five minutes into my dinner, my heart decided to cash in on the absence of critical thinking in the face of the delectable Banku with Hot Pepper, and Fried-fish. It also presented its case, “the real test of marriage lies not only in the season when couples ride the crest of pleasure and cruise on the dangerous waters of Adabut also in their ability to anchor when the storms beat hard and hold firm even after the forbidden fruit has been consumed.

The test of a husband’s character lies not in taking the easy and obvious road as many would urge him to do but to remain faithful and committed to his embattled wife and outlast this season of great distress.

Of course ‘Jezebeel’ might have said and done some very bad things in her life but guess what,‘only human beings throw away other human beings, God never does that.’If God had divorced mankind after our betrayal as beautifully portrayed in the life of Hosea, do you think you would be here to even enjoy this ball of Banku?” My heart reprimanded me. It continued, “The vows Afriyie took on that fateful Sunday were not uttered by the lips of the millions chanting that he divorces his wife. Every marital problem has its solution and its solution lies in He whom Afriyie stood before to declare those daring vows, “For better andfor worse.”In these trying times; I pray you advice Afriyie and his wife to do one thing, “pray and ask for wisdom to wither the storm.”“Kickingand thumping a woman who is already down will do no one any good,” my heart concluded as I swallowed the last ball of Banku.

It was eventually time to make a decision and communicate it to Afriyie,so I decided to backtrack and temper critical thinking with sensitivity. I visited the words spoken byOral Robertsto my late Pastor. He said,“Son, if you’re going to be successful in life, expect the best and prepare for the worst.” This advice summarizes what marriage was intended to be by the creator. My advice to Afriyie is that which was spoken by the mouth of the wise King Solomon,“To everything there is a season.” This means that whatever difficulties youare experiencing is not going to last forever. Do not make a permanent decision based on a temporal discomfort. Seek the face of God, talk to him and make a wise decision. Your marriage affects us all but do not allow the pressures of society to force you to break your neck in order to save your face. Stay strong and May God guide you in your decision!!! It is neither in my place nor the place of the millions screaming, divorce, to take that decision for you. The call solely rest on your shoulders. God be with you
