Fraudster In Police Grips For Impersonation

A young man in his 30s is in the grips of the Nima Police Command for impersonation and fraud.

The suspect, George Tetteh, is said to have claimed to be a staff of Okay FM.

Details of his arrest stated that George was arrested on August 28 when a taxi driver he had defrauded spotted him when he was alighting from another taxi.

According to the police, George hired the services of a cab driver and when they got to the bus stop at the Police Headquarters, George borrowed GH¢40 from the driver to transact some quick business in the vicinity.

However, when he was about to get down, another taxi driver grabbed him from behind demanding that he pay him an amount of GH¢50 he borrowed from him, plus service fees, on August 26.
The driver who had just dropped George and was waiting rushed in to calm tempers.

It was there the second cab driver disclosed that George hired his services on August 26 and vanished. He narrated that after they got to a point, the suspect took GH¢50 from him under the pretext of transacting some quick business, but failed to return.
According to him, Tetteh told him that he was a staff of Okay FM and was on special assignment.

This prompted the first cab driver to take the GH¢40 he had lent to George from him. A search on him revealed GH¢28 in one cedi denomination.

Preliminary investigations revealed that George has been in the business for a while and that a similar case against him is pending at the Dansoman Police Station.

The police have meanwhile urged persons, especially taxi drivers, who have fallen victim to George Tetteh's tricks or any such person to contact them to assist in investigations.

George has since admitted the offence but denied ever telling his victims he was a staff of Okay FM.
