Security Of Every Ghanaian Vital Fritz Baffour

The Member of Parliament of Ablekuma South Constituency and Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee in Parliament, says the security of every citizen, irrespective of his or her location in the country, should be paramount to the government.

Mr. Fritz Baffour said every citizen had a fundamental human right to security and should therefore receive adequate protection from the state.

Mr. Baffour said this when he presented a cheque for ¢12,000 from his share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund (DACF) to the Mamprobi Police Station.

The amount is expected to be used to cement the entire frontage and refurbish offices to give the appalling structure a befitting look.

Subsequent projects will include the construction of a fence, establishment of a Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, provision of a septic tank, completion of the female cells, distillation of choked gutters at the station, provision of office desks and computers, among other things.

Presenting the cheque, the MP stressed the need for the public to contribute towards the renovation of the station in order to facilitate the efforts of the police to enforce law and order within the communities.

He said the presentation formed part of his social responsibility to the society and stressed the need for the government to provide proper accommodation for the police personnel.

Mr. Baffour also appealed to the government to improve the bungalows of station officers residing at the premises.

Receiving the cheque, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dansoman Divisional Command, Mr. Antwi Tabi, commended the MP for his contribution and appealed to other benevolent organisations and the general public to come to the aid of the station.

He indicated that the increase in resident population in the township required an expansion of offices in the station and provision of gadgets to motivate the police in the discharge of their duties.

He appealed to the MP to provide the station with sanitation materials to enable it participate in the monthly national sanitation exercises.
