Former IBF Welterweight World Champion, Joshua ‘Hitter’ Clottey has revealed exclusively to happyghana.com that he once caught his girlfriend in bed with another guy a week to his final eliminator bout against Jose Luis Cruz in the US in 2008.

According to the ‘Grand Master’, as he is affectionately known, the incident gave him a torrid time as he was unable to sleep throughout the period before the bout which he won anyway.

“I have an experience in relation to this Afriyie Acquah saga. I remember while in the US preparing for my final IBF eliminator before the title fight with Zab Judah, I had the same problem. I caught my girlfriend doing a stupid thing. I followed her secretly in the cold alone with a hood on my head until I caught her and I was to fight the following week.

Though I was troubled, I went into the bout and won. I don’t think that because I saw my girlfriend with another guy, I shouldn’t eat or train. The only thing I wasn’t able to do was to sleep. But there was no way I could abandon my job because of what happened.” Joshua Clottey told Happyghana.com.

Clottey was giving his view on the leaked tape of Amanda Afriyie who claimed she had slept with Jordan Ayew for four years while calling her husband, Afriyie Acquah, ‘monkey’.

In the said fight, Joshua knocked out his Mexican opponent Jose Luis Cruz in the 5th round and later went ahead to win the vacant IBF Welterweight title after whipping Zab Judah.
