NPP Is Not Ready To Win Power...They've Lost Focus - Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed, aspiring General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), has lambasted the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) claiming the party has missed the mark to win the 2016 elections.

According to him, the NPP is not ready to wrestle power from the current Mahama administration.

Speaking to host Nana Yaw on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed based his claims on what he calls as "senseless" internal strife in the NPP.

To him, until the NPP finds lasting solutions to their internal strife and put their forces together to face the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC); they may have to remain in opposition.

“NPP is not ready to win political power. That’s what I see. (Honourable) you’ve not made up your mind that you’re ready to compete in the next elections effectively. Oh yes, that’s what I see because the things which have become their focus are senseless and appears to have taken the center stage as far as the affairs of NPP are concerned.”

Contributing further to the programme, he advised the NPP to stop the unnecessary grumble within the party.

“Are these the things that the electorates are interested in?" he asked, stressing that it however seems "that is what the NPP are interested in.”

“They want to show who is more powerful than the other in an opposition party but having power in opposition amounts to nothing. Who is more powerful, who is somebody in opposition; all amounts to nothing. You can’t affect policy. You can’t do anything," he warned the rank and file of the NPP.
