Ill Lead Operation Recover All Lost Seats Haruna Iddrisu

The Member of Parliament for the Tamale South Constituency, Haruna Iddrisu has revealed plans to ensure that the NDC gets back all seats it lost to the opposition NPP in the 2012 elections.

According to him, “some political slips and miscalculations” led to the defeat in the constituencies hence his intention to reclaim the seats for the party.

Haruna Iddrisu was speaking on The Big Issue shortly after he submitted his nomination forms at the Tamale South constituency office Saturday morning.

“There will be operation recover all lost seats to the NPP in the region which I believe I am very capable to lead or supporting whoever will lead that process to recover those seats, so president Mahama’s performance will improve in the region, parliamentary performance will improve because I have added that to my burden as a key government functionary,” he said.

At a rather ‘low key’ ceremony that characterized the submission of the forms, the three time serving legislator was optimistic of being retained as the MP considering his contribution to the development of the constituency.

“I’m optimistic that there can only be one irresistible outcome to this process, that I will be re-elected and renominated and returned to parliament as the Member of Parliament for Tamale South,” he said.

Haruna Iddrisu further ruled out any comments suggesting he had contributed to sidelining other potential competitors,

“That is not even getting my attention, for me I am running and I am ready to run whichever person may eventually emerge or not emerge, I am battle ready,” he observed.

President Mahama going unopposed

Meanwhile Haruna Iddrisu has downplayed assertions that the NDC is hampering internal democracy by advocating that President Mahama goes unopposed. He however expressed his support for the candidature of President Mahama.

“He has my personal and absolute support as president to continue to lead the party and lead the country and I believe he has the overwhelming support of the party whoever may be daring him may just be preparing himself for a humiliating defeat.”

In a related development, Secretary for the Tamale South constituency, Suleimana Mohammed revealed that a former Constituency Secretary, Mohammed Ayew has picked nomination forms to challenge Haruna Iddrisu. Suleimana also indicated Mohammed Ayew had earlier in 2012 failed to meet the requirements to contest the sitting MP.

Suleimana Mohammed was however confident that some major interventions by Haruna Iddrisu to the development of the welfare of the constituents will aid in his successes at the 2016 general elections.
