The match winner in Ghana�s away AFCON qualifier against Rwanda, Mubarak Wakaso has told Citi Sports the game against the Amavubis was �very difficult.�
The two teams were almost heading for a 0-0 drawn game when Wakaso curled in a beauty, from a free kick in the 87th minute.
The poor state of the pitch at the Amahoro stadium also made it more difficult for the Black Stars to string their passes together and technically execute their game plan.
After the match, Wakaso exclusively told Citi FM�s reporter in Kigali, Rahman Osman that, �It was a difficult game and we were also determined to win the game and actually we got the win. So I will use this opportunity to thank my colleagues and the almighty God because it was not easy. But we are still looking ahead to make it bigger and bigger.�
Wakaso, who has been one of the most consistent players in the Black Stars set up, said �anytime I get the opportunity, I try to make good use of it. What I�m doing is part of me, I�m a hard worker and I always want to see my side win��
Ghana now has 6 points after Saturday�s victory.
The Black Stars in their first game, thumped Mauritius 7-1 in Accra.
Meanwhile the coach of the Rwandan national team Johnny McKinstry is still hopeful his team will make it to the next AFCON tournament in Gabon.
Commenting on the game against Ghana, he said �� Playing against a team like Ghana, there wasn�t going to be a lot of chances, we had two or three chances, Ghana had two or three chances and it was a tactical game, it was a game of chess. But I thought we nullified them [Ghana].�
He said his team�s plan to rake in at least 12 points from the qualifiers is still on course despite the defeat against Ghana.
�� Our ambition to get 12 points in this group, 6 from Mauritius and 6 from Mozambique, if we play like we did in Mozambique and we play like we did today [against Ghana], in those next three games, I believe we will be on 12 points, and 12 points if it doesn�t win the group it should put us as one of the best runners� up so I think we are in good value to be in Gabon next year.�
