After Attempts To Smear Kpando MP Hit Snag, Youth Bare Fangs At Corrupt Self-Styled Chiefs

It was all drama last Friday, when the youth of Kpando in the Volta region demonstrated against some corrupt self-styled chiefs and elders in the constituency over clandestine attempts to join hands with some detractors operating behind closed-doors to smear the current Member of Parliament in the area, who also doubles as the deputy Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Honorable Dela Sowah. Karl Atitse, a student activist who represented the youth, in their misgivings expressed disappointment in the chiefs he described as unknown and self-styled, for plotting evil against the incumbent MP. According to Atitse, as of the beneficiaries of the MPs benevolent initiatives, he would rather die to defend the MP than to watch her detractors drag her name into the mud. It was through her support that I have been able to climb this far in education, there are several of us who have gained employment because we have a committed and caring Member of Parliament, he added. Isaac Krampa, another youth activist, for his part, also expressed disquiet over the actions of the chiefs, saying it was not worth emulating, particularly when they knew it was very absurd to say they had been long sidelined by the MP and therefore would not give her a second term in Parliament, our MP is a unifier, who since her term in office has brought unity in not just our constituency but also her Ministry where the president has appointed her to serve. We are the youth of this land, and we will not support any criminally minded people whose sole aim is to fill their stomachs, we need people with generational thinking, and that is why we will keep rooting for Honorable Dela Sowah. Some people for some selfish reasons and their parochial interest have resorted to destroy the future of our youth, and we are not going to allow that, they observed. Readers could recall that tempers went higher at the Palace of Akpene in Kpando a fortnight ago when a group calling itself concerned youth of Kpando organized a press conference to discredit the sitting member of parliament for the area. It nearly turned bloody with the spontaneous reaction from the town folk when another section of the youth trooped in uninvited to protest against the press conference. The group, among other things described the MP as a divisive character trying all she could to destroy the Kpando constituency, and however threatened to vote massively against the ruling National Democratic Congress if she was not removed. But Mr. Wilfred Agbane, the constituencys Secretary in a quick reaction condemned the allegations and said they did not represent the youth of the township in anyway but was just from a few people who thought they could hijack the MP. Because they could not get the opportunity to extort money from her they resorted to going to the media without any basis. They want to frustrate the woman so her work would not show, but I can tell you that our MP is a star, no matter what you try to cover her with, she will shine. We learnt that a character wants to become an MP, so he hides behind the chiefs to pave way for him, we wish him well, but he should not come and tarnish anybodys image, he should just come and pick his form.
