Mahama To Maintain Amissah Arthur

Deep throat sources at the presidency have given hints that President John Dramani Mahama is most likely to maintain Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as his running mate for the 2016 polls. This comes barely a few days after the president sent his vice to pick up nomination forms on his behalf for the presidential primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) slated for November 7. The sources said even though it was not out of the ordinary for the president to instruct his vice to carry out a duty on his behalf, the decision to send him to pick up forms carried a deeper message. When he picked up the forms, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said Mr. Amissah-Arthurs decision to pick the forms on behalf of the president naturally confirmed his confidence and trust in the competence of the president. But, according to some political analysts, the NDC scribes assertion was a subtle endorsement of the candidature of the two for the 2016 polls. Meanwhile, some opinions are suggesting that the NDC may not want Amissah-Arthur, as the running mate to President Dramani Mahama for the second time. The man, who is seen by many as a technocrat rather than a typical politician, has often been described as a bad match for President Dramani Mahama. His critics had also said he was too slow for the job, but those who support his candidature say: he is slow but sure and works harder regardless of his posture.
