Gang Lay Siege On Assemblyman

The Assemblyman of Manso Aboree, in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, escaped death narrowly, when a gang of suspected robbers raided his house amidst sporadic gunfire in the evening of Tuesday. Armed with pump action guns, the two gangsters were said to have targeted Kojo Afrani, the Assemblyman, believed to be a gold dealer, but missed him. The bullets, were, however, said to have hit his thighs and the robbers took away an unspecified amount of money including some gold. Mr Afrani was rushed to the St. Martin�s Hospital at Agroyesum where he was receiving treatment as at the time of going to press. Eye witnesses told The Ghanaian Times that the incident took place at about 7:30p.m. According to one of the eye witnesses, the Assemblyman pretended to be dead when he fell after the gunshots, and one of the robbers remarked �he is dead, he is dead, let us go� The eye witness claimed that the robbers attacked the house firing gunshots sporadically to scare the household before entering the Assemblyman�s room, where they took the money and the gold after the shootings. A police source at Manso Nkwanta confirmed receiving a report of the robbery and said the police had mounted a search for the suspects.
