NDC Suame MP Aspirant, Dodovi vows to retire Minority Leader

A Parliamentary aspirant for the Suame seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Francis Dodovi, has sworn to retire the Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, from Parliament after the 2016 general elections. Suame, one of the safe seats of the minority New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been occupied by Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu since 1997 and Dodovi, a member of the NDC communications team, has said enough is enough. Dodovi, a journalist and former editor of Solid FM and Manager of Boss FM, private radio stations in Kumasi told journalists after submitting his nomination forms at the partys office in Suame on Thursday that he has done enough work to merit the seat. He has, subsequently, rolled out his scientific campaign to overturn the 50,000 vote difference at the last elections. At the 2012 elections, the NPP had about 60,000 as against the NDCs 10,000 in the parliamentary elections while in the presidential; NPP had about 63,000 as against the NDCs 12,000. Fondly called Suame Ronaldo, Dodovi reckoned the challenge but said the NPP has had a leeway over the years because the NDC has not been very visible on the ground in the area. I will surprise the Minority leader and retire him comfortably. My aim is to win the seat and increase President John Dramani Mahamas vote in the constituency, he said. Dodovi said the Minority Leader has not done enough for the constituency which is dogged with bad roads and lack of basic amenities including public toilets. He said he will launch a campaign to compel Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to account for the MPs Common Fund and other statutory funds which were meant to transform the constituency. The NDC communicator promised to source for funding when given the opportunity to modernise the Suame Magazine with the aim provide jobs for the youth. Meanwhile, the NDC has extended the deadline for the submission of forms in the region from Thursday, September 10 to Thursday, September 17. The Ashanti regions special dispensation was due to the late start of the partys bio-metric registration of members.
