Mayor Donates Items To Support Funeral

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) yesterday donated 50 boxes of mineral water and 20 cartons of assorted drinks to the New Times Corporation (NTC) to support the funeral of Mr Samuel Nuamah, the Presidential Correspondent who died in a motor accident involving the Presidential Press Corps.

The donation was in fulfillment of a pledge made by the Mayor of Accra, Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije when he visited the corporation a forthright-ago to sign Book of the condolence opened in memory of Mr Nuamah.

Presenting the items to the corporation, Mr Esmond Ahiadekey, Deputy Head of Public Affairs of the A.M.A said the donation was to honour the promise made by the Mayor weeks ago.

He added that the items were part of the A.M.A’s contribution towards the burial service on Thursday and expressed hope that they would help make the funeral a success.

“We have come here today to donate these items to the Corporation to support and contribute towards preparations to give our brother a befitting burial on Thursday,” he said.

The Editor of The Ghanaian Times, David Agbenu, who received the items on behalf of the corporation, thanked the Mayor of Accra for fulfilling his promises and showing immense support to help lay the late Samuel Nuamah to rest.

“We are grateful for all that you have done to help us prepare to rest. This would go a long way to boost preparations towards the funeral on Thursday,” he said.

The A.M.A has already donated GHc1000 to the Endowment Fund set up by the NTC to support the family of the deceased and has also provided a grave site in the Osu cemetery where the mortal remains of the late Nuamah would be laid.
