Kotoko Optimistic Of Getting Points Back

The Management of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, said it was upbeat about the success of its appeal, to overturn the earlier ruling against the club by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The Committee had upheld the complaint lodged by arch-rivals, Accra Hearts Oak, that Kokoto fielded an unqualified player in their First Capital Plus Premier League match played at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 2. It then went ahead to deduct six points from its points build up, and Kotoko had appealed against the decision. Mr Samuel Opoku-Nti, Kotoko General Manager, told the GNA Sports in Kumasi that they had a solid case. Re-instating the lost points would push the club to the second position on the just-ended league table. Mr. Opoku-Nti said we are urging the Appeals Committee of the GFA to overturn the earlier ruling that saw Kotoko losing six vital points. He questioned the basis for the disciplinary committees ruling, and said it was wrong. He vowed to exhaust all possible avenues to ensure that justice was done.
