There Will Be Chaos In 2016 If EC Refuses To Change Voters Register- Bugri Naabu

The Northern regional chairman of the NPP, Bugri Naabu, has hinted there would be a complete confusion and disorder in the country if the newly appointed electoral commissioner, Madam Charlotte Osei and her commission refused to heed calls by the opposition party and the significant number of Ghanaians for a new voters register for the 2016 General and Parliamentary Elections.

Chairman Bugri described the current register as despairing and gives no grounds for hope because it is fraught with ghost names and foreigners.

He said the voters register in its current state is not susceptible to cure or improvements and that the only option in order not to plunge the country into political tumult in 2016 is a change of the voters register.

Speaking to Peacefmonline. com, Bugri said "The voters register is the most hopeless register we have, foreigners have registered, ghost names are in the register, this register cannot be used as a credible register and if Ghanaians use this one for elections, there will be trouble in this country."

The regional chairman also accused the General secretary of the NDC of unilaterally masterminding the recruitment of non-Ghanaians from neighboring countries to vote in Ghana.

He said the party is aware that Mr. Aseidu Nketiah had offices in boarder regions for the sole purpose of registering foreigners.

"Aseidu Nketiah has gone round the boarder areas to register people from other neighboring countries, we are aware. Even he went to open offices in other countries for registrations, the register is too bad." Bugri lamented.

However, the chairman believed Madam Charlotte Osei would not emulate the 'incorrigible demeanor' of her predecessor, Mr. Afari Gyan who he said "dumped" the 2012 elections in favour of the NDC.

He believed the commissioner would listen and act positively to the their request.

He was giving details on the preparations towards the party's political hustings dubbed 'Rise and Build tour' that is set to hit the region on Saturday September 19.

Bugri Naabu said the party in the region is welled up for the tour and that all plans are advanced to welcome the party's flagbearer; Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.
