Bloody Demo: We Will Not Give Up.Demonstration Will Come On Again David Asante

A planned peaceful demonstration turned violent after some of the protesters defied Police order and attempted to move to the premises of the Electoral Commission (EC) to present their petition.

Members of the LMVCA and its allied civic groups and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) were tear gassed and shot with rubber bullets after having veered off from the approved route to picket at the Electoral Commission.

Dozens got injured in the melee including leading NPP member Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko.

Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi, Convenor of the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) David Asante said even though the police brutalized and attacked them, they will go on another demonstration because “we were not able to present our petition”

"We will embark on another demonstration...we will not give up. We will insist that we present our petition. The police were leading us; they had lined up infront and so at a point the demonstrators were even asking whether they (police) were demonstrating or we were demonstrating. I alerted the regional commander and told him this is not the way to go...if that is what they are going to do in 2016 then....."
