China Marks 66th Anniversary, 55 Years Of China-Ghana Relations

The People’s Republic of China marked the 66th anniversary of the founding of their nation with a colorful display of rich Chinese culture and acrobatics at the National Theatre last Tuesday.

The event which brought together Chinese community in Ghana was also used to celebrate 55 years of China-Ghana relations.

It was also witnessed by high profiled personalities from the Chinese embassy in Ghana and some Ghana ministers of state.

China’s ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Sun Baoheng, noted that Ghana is the only second Sub-Saharan African country to establish diplomatic relations with China and also the first Sub-Saharan African country to open its doors to host Chinese leaders.

She stressed on China’s commitment to developing relations with other African countries.

She added that China’s development was an opportunity for the world and Africa to exploit, stressing that, China is an advocator and pursuer of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Ambassador urged the two countries to show greater political will and put in place more targeted initiatives to enhance better understanding of each other and elevate the bilateral relations to new heights.

Speaking on behalf of government, the Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia commended china for the considerable support given to Ghana over the years.

He noted that, the vibrant cultural cooperation between the two countries had yielded tangible results as evidenced by the people-to-people exchanges at the grass roots level.

He also pledged government’s continuous support to the growth of the ties between the two countries.

The night was marked with performances from renowned Chinese artistes with Akua China thrilling the audience with renditions from Kojo Antwi, Becca and Amakye Dede.
