Did Jose Mourinho Call Eva Carneiro Filha da Puta (WATCH) Faces 5-Match Ban

The FA have launched an investigation into a complaint of verbal sexist abuse made against Jose Mourinho, the Independent report today.

The incriminating incident in question occurred on the opening day of the Premier League season, when Mourinho was heard shouting abuse at club medic Eva Carneiro after she ran onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard (an unprofessional decision, according to Mourinho).

Carneiro was incredibly demoted from matchday duties as punishment, but hasn’t actually returned to work since, of her own volition, as she’s sought out legal advice over the incident. The paper explains how if found to have categorically used the abusive language towards Carneiro, Mourinho would be in breach ofFA rule E3, in which Players and coaches can be penalised for using “offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures”.

With an aggravated breach, in this case potentially with reference to gender, a five-match ban is the minimum punishment. Watch the clip of the controversial incident below, in which Mourinho can quite audibly be heard yelling ‘Filha da puta!’ (a Portuguese insult meaning ‘daughter of a whore’).

Mourinho has remained tight-lipped about the incident ever since, and has effectively censored the topic from his press conferences; any journalist brave enough to ask is met with an icy cold death stare.
