Nana Addo Stopped From Visiting Ambarriyya Muslim Leader

A meeting at Radach Conference Hall in Tamale where NPP Flagbearer had with senior members of the party, former MPs, DCEs, government appointees was nearly marred when some implacable youth stormed the place to forced Nana Addo to cancelled a planned engagement with the Ambarriyya Muslim sect and its leader in the region. The youth accused the sect and its leader, Alhaji Seidu Zakariah of being a die- hard loyalist to the ruling National Democratic Party. They are therefore commanding Nana Addo to give over the intended visit or face their wrath. As a precursor to campaign 2016, Nana Akuffo Addo launched the 'rise and build tour' aiming at visiting all the ten regions in the country seeking to calm down nerves and simmer down people who feels worried and despondent from the current standoff and media dustup in the party. The Flagbearer therefore is in the region currently for the tour and as part of the program lineup, the opposition leader was to meet the Ambarriya Muslim sect after his engagement with the former appointees and executive members of the party. While he was still addressing the gathering, there was a sudden rise in voices deeply protesting and gathering towards the dais where Nana Addo and his entourage were seated but were quickly stopped by the policemen. The NPP and the sect had a very chilling relationship in the run up to the 2012 elections after the party accused the leader of using their platform to campaign for the NDC. According to the youth, they still feel the overt hostility shown them by leader of the sect in the 2012 elections where his sermons were virtually laced with NDC manifesto. "We won't allow Nana Addo to go there. We are human beings, when you hurt us, we feel it. They are NDC, we won't allow our leader to go there and reveal our secrets which they would relay to their paymaster to use against us", an angry youth told Peacefmonline.com. Despite restraining them by the police, the youth threatened an unsuccessful tour if the leader refused their demand. They refused to keep calm and continued to roar in anguish demanding an immediate assurance from the Flagbearer. As a result, on behalf of the Flagbearer, the regional chairman of the party, Chairman 'bulldozer' Bugri Naabu put the matter to rest by reluctantly giving in to the demands of the charged youth. "People voted for me and if those who voted me to power say I shouldn't go and I won't go, but remember we need more vote" the chairman reminded. Peacefmonline.com can therefore report that the well arranged visit by Nana Addo to the Ambarriyya Muslim sect never happened because of a long standing religious schism.
