Judges Behaving Like Mere Church Goers...

The head pastor Obuasi Methodist church, Rt. Rev. Stephen Bosomtwe Ayensu has lashed out at judges who have been captured on camera allegedly taking bribes to pervert the course of justice.

In the view of Bishop Ayensu, the 'corrupt’ judges are no different from ordinary ‘church goers’ who only dress up to go sit in the church and not put into practice God’s word.

Speaking on the back of allegations and video evidence of some judges who have been implicated in a latest investigation piece by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Rev. Ayensu stressed that any judical officer found culpable should be given the strongest of punishments, mainly because of their abuse of the trust reposed in them by Ghanaians.

"It’s very disgusting and shameful to see our judiciary in such a mess just to tamper with justice. Their behavior is nothing different from church goers who only think about dressing and polishing just to go and show off at church and not listen to the word of God to change.

“I’m not sure they are even Christians. They just have to be prosecuted if found culpable” he stated.

Undercover investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has compiled audio-visual recordings over a period of two years and documented shocking acts of alleged bribery of judges who trade justice for pecuniary and other material benefits.

Thousands of Ghanaians, including the Attorney-General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong and other dignitaries thronged the Accra International Conference Centre for the premiere of the video after an attempt by one of the implicated judges to prevent its public showing failed.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood has instituted a committee to establish whether there is a prima facie case against 12 High Court judges and 22 lower court judges captured on video allegedly taking bribes.
