Anas Alone Cannot Fight Corruption; Were All Guilty With Our Silence - Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante

Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev Professor Emmanuel Asante has expressed worry over the way Ghanaians have not taken active role in the fight against corruption in the country.

According to the Presiding Bishop, Methodist Church Ghana, the fight against corruption in the country cannot be left for some individuals in the country as the ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team has taken upon themselves to do for Ghana.

Speaking on Oman Fm’s National Agenda Morning Show, Professor Asante urged all and sundry to support in the fight against corruption, starting from the topnotch to the last person should take active interest to combat this canker.

He emphasized that the era of watching state officials participating fully in corruption without punitive actions against should be over; urging that this video about the judges should lead the crusade against corruption by applying the law to work effectively.

“We should try and ask ourselves what we are doing to support in the fight against corruption; by collision or omission, what have we done to promote the fight against corruption in the country. Everybody should be active and be truthful from our leaders at the top to the last person in the country,” he urged.

“If we don’t simply show the videos to Ghanaians but become activists against corruption, I think we can fight it. We sit in ‘trotro’ and we see police taking bribes from drivers but we simply overlook it and take it as a norm,” he chided.

“The Tiger Eye P I, Anas and his team risk their lives to expose corruption and then nothing comes out of it. Anas alone cannot fight corruption in the country; all of us must play active role to combat that canker. We should all share in the guilt with the way we overlook certain briberies taking place in the country,” he emphasized.
