Let�s Make Zongos The Cleanest - Imam

Mr Alfas Anas Hamidu, Volta Regional Chief Imam, on Thursday urged Moslems to endeavor to make their surroundings the cleanest in the country. He said cleanliness was an important virtue in Islam and challenged Moslems to practice teachings on cleanliness to make the Zongos cleanest. Mr Hamidu was addressing Moslems in Ho at an event to mark the celebration of Eid al-Adha. The celebration is marked annually to commemorate the symbolic sacrifice and service of Abraham to Allah. He said it was unfortunate that most zongos were unsightly, whilst the dwellers looked very neat and good outside, and called for a change in attitude. Mr Hamidu also charged Moslems to be peace-loving and disabuse public perception that Islam is a violent religion. Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, commended the Moslem community in the Region for co-existing peacefully with the indigenes. He also urged Moslems to be conscious of their environment and ensure that their surroundings were kept neat. Mr Ganyaglo on behalf of the Regional Coordinating Council presented 100 plastic chairs to the Moslem community in Ho. Mr Ferg Afedo, Ho Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also presented 10 plastic tables, five bags of rice, five cartons of bottled water and a carton of cooking oil to the community.
