Hearts ride over Kotoko in Kumasi

Hearts of Oak hauled themselves from an opening day defeat to beat Asante Kotoko 1-0 in the MTN Top 4 competition. The defeat has left Kotoko reeling under pressure as they slump to their second successive defeat in the tournament. Hearts' Bernard Dong Bortey returned to the Baba Yara Stadium to haunt his old foes as he produced the match winner in the first half, bending a great freekick from 20 yards out into the upright of goalkeeper Isaac Amoako. The Hearts attacker had the chance to score a personal second but on the stroke injury time, he shot feebly into the arms on the Kotoko goalkeeper. With the rivalry between both sides enough motivation ahead of the game, the Phobians appeared really composed on the day as indecisiveness on the part of Kotoko's attack cost them a point on the day. Hearts are now a point off the joint leaders after Sunday's the win. In the other game at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra, Heart of Lions and King Faisal shared the spoils as they finished their tie 1-1. Lions jumped into the lead through a Kweku Andoh goal but Clement Coffie was on hand to draw his side level before regulation time.
