Stop Confiscating Sports Betting Equipment

The Chairman of the Gaming Commission of Ghana, Mr. Emmanuel Quayenoo has tasked the Police to stop seizing equipment from betting outfits in the country as the approach is unlawful.

Speaking at the launch of Soccabet - a new sports betting company, he stated that the Commission is the only institution mandated by law to seize any equipment if they find operators violating some of the gaming laws.

Mr. Quayenoo stated "I am appealing to the police and municipal authorities to desist from the act and rather contact the commission for directions if they suspect any wrong doing by a betting outfit".

He added that, the situation is becoming very embarrassing to the licensed companies in the country.

"Individuals including foreigners have invested massively into the venture and it would be very disturbing if they are treated in such an embarrassing manner." He stressed.

He admonished that; any game of chance in the country must be registered and approved by the Commission.

He congratulated Soccabet for their presence in the country and pledged his outfit's support to their success and growth.

The Chief Executive Officer of Soccabet, Gungoran Arslan, has promised his outfit’s readiness to create more job opportunities. ‘‘ we will create about 1000 job opportunities to Ghanaians in few months’’ and ensure that they apply innovation and technology to serve customers with the best as far as the betting industry is concerned.

Soccabet has been in existence in Ghana over the last eight months and has 46 outlets across the country and pride itself with innovative and basic technologies to the common man to entertain themselves with.
