The General Secretary of the United Front Party (UFP), Listowell Nana Poku has described as “childish” and “irrelevant” the demand of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a new voters’ register before the 2016 elections are conducted.

Apart from Dr. Bawumia, the Running Mate of the NPP Presidential Candidate who presented to the Electoral Commission that over 70,000 Togolese are found in Ghana’s voters’ register, the party has again revealed over 2,000 multiple registrations in the voters’ register, therefore deepening their demand for a new voters’ register.

But reacting to the NPP bombshell on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, the Chief Scribe of the UFP said the claim by the NPP that Togolese nationals voted in 2012 elections is factually incorrect.

He explained that this could have been possible because Ghana did its registration in 2012 while the Togolese had theirs in 2013 to 2015; asserting that Togolese should rather have complained of Ghanaian nationals voting in Togo and not the other way round.

“NPP’s claim of Togolese nationals voting in 2012 elections is factually incorrect because Ghana did its registration in 2012 and Togo did its registration in 2013 to 2015…it is factually incorrect that all the people from Volta region are from Togo per Dr. Bawumia’s analysis that the over 70,000 supposed Togolese constitute only 10 percent of the work done in Volta region,” he chided.

“The first time Ghana witness one-man-one-vote was in 2012; the argument of the NPP is childish and irrelevant to debate. When they realized that Dr. Bawumia’s presentation is flawed then they have come up with multiple registration but there is system being used to clean up the voters’ register,” he bashed.
