4X4, Becca Fight Obour

After series of close door meetings with legal experts, the management of 4X4 is planning to drag Obour and the organizers of "Obour and Friends Resurrection" concert to court, if they continue to use the name of the group to advertise the concert. According to the management of the group it came to its notice that the name of 4X4 was being used by Obour and the organizers to advertise their impending musical concert, without permission from the groups management. The management claimed that it was unlawful to use 4X4 or any other persons name to advertise an event or a product without permission. 4x4, one of Ghanas souls winning hiplife trio which recently launched its hit-album, "World Trade Centre" at the Boomerang Night Club, has warned event organizes to desist from using its name to advertise their events without approval from its management. Reacting to an advertisement placed in the Graphic Showbiz on Thursday, August 27, a source close to 4X4 told Beatwaves in a telephone interview that the group has not been contacted to perform at the the "Resurrection "concert being organized by Obour and friends on Friday September 4 at the National Theatre in Accra. The source said we are not happy with the organizers of the show. Why should they use the name of the group to advertise the event without our permission? 4X4 is a well organized group and we do not want its name to be associated with the event when we have not been contacted . When asked whether the management of the group would institute a legal action against the organizers of "Resurrection" Concert, the source declared that if the organizers continue to use the name of the group in the advertisement then we would seek redress at the law court. The concert which is slated for the National Theatre on September 4th, will suffer a setback if a writ is filed against the organizers of the event by the management of 4X4. In another development, the management of Becca, has also expressed similar concerns about the organizers refusal to contact Becca before using her name to advertise the event. In a chat, Becca whose live performances, recently attracted a large number of music lovers across the country, said although she has not been officially informed about the impending show on September 4th, preparations are underway for her to stage her own show in December this year. She was of the view that it was wrong for the organisers to use her name to advertise the event without her permission. She however advised the organizers to use lawful means in getting her on board.
