Kotoko In Limbo Over Managerial And Coaching Changes

The 23-time league champions activities appear to have been slowed due to unsettled issues within the club. Asante Kotoko have admitted frustration at the current state of uncertainty within the club. This follows recent development about a change in personnel, specifically regarding the clubs general manager position as well as the coaching role. According to reports, general manager Samuel Opoku Nti has been given his marching orders by the owner and life patron of the club, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, with the appointment of Dr. Kwaku Frimpong of Champion Divine Clinic imminent. Former Black Stars and Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffuor has also been speculated as a possible successor. However, Nti keeps dismissing his sacking: I have no idea what they are talking about. I am still at my post. The clubs coaching job has also been in the news with Danish trainer Tommy Moller Nielsen exclusively revealing to Goal hes been given the mandate to replace David Duncan. I've signed for Kotoko and will be in charge but my vision at the club is to win more games and trophies to make the supporters happy, Nielsen said. However, Duncan maintains hes still at post and has even reportedly submitted a list of transfer targets ahead of next season. But it appears the clubs current level of indecision has been having its fair share of negative repercussions. The confusing developments which saw some Kotoko benefactors bringing in a coach from Europe, and giving the impression that, they are taking over the administration of the club has caused uneasiness within the clubs leadership and supporters front with loads of questions being asked as to what is really happening, the club said on its official website. Management and the Board of Directors have denied knowledge of the appointment of the coach from Europe. They have also stated that, General Manager, OpokuNti and the Paul Adu-Gyamfi Board are still at the helm of affairs. Information picked by Asantekotokosc.com shows that, not many agents on the player transfer market are enthused over recent developments in Kotoko and are therefore dragging their feet on opening doors for negotiation on targeted players. Additionally, there are concerns about the availability of funds for recruitment. Kotoko placed sixth in the 2014-15 Ghana Premier League and ended the season without a major title.
