Ama Ampofo Disappointed At AMAA Organisers

The supporting actress in Shirley Frimpong Mansos movie Devil in the Details, Ama Ampofo, has expressed disappointment at the organisers of the just ended 2015 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) which was organised over the weekend in South Africa. She expressed her disappointment in an interview on Accra-based Joy FM. After a seeming confusion in the Best Supporting Actress category, Ama Ampofo was announced as the winner for her role in Shirley Frimpong Mansos Devil in the Detail, a film that tells the story of a happily married couple whose relationship is torn apart by infidelity. Initially, Nigerian actress, Hilda Dokubo was announced as the winner. According to Ama, she had heard nothing from the organisers to clarify the confusion concerning who actually won the award. She explained that due to hotel reservations and other challenges she faced with her processing of her visa, she could not attend the awards ceremony, where she was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category. She added that she received congratulatory messages from friends and family after she was announced the winner for the best supporting actress in the just ended AMAA awards. I am a bit disappointed but all the same, I am happy for the winner, she said. Ama assured her fans of better projects ahead, urging them to look out because more awards awaited her in the future. She added that all attempts by her management team to reach the organisers of AMAA had proved futile and that she had not received an apology from the team yet. Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is an annual ceremony organised to honour actors, actresses and other professionals in African movie industries. Ghana had three nominations in the 2015 AMAA but failed to win any of the categories they were nominated in. The nominees were Joselyn Dumas for Best Actress in a leading role in Silver Rain, Ama Ampofo for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Devil in a Detail and Agorkorli for Best Animation.
