Following his victory last Tuesday as one of the newly elected Executive Committee (ExCo) members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Albert Commey has called for the institution of measures to repair the bad image of the association.
He has, therefore, called for a renewed commitment by the football authorities to open up to cleanse the football regulatory body of the bad image the public perceives of it.
“It is important for us to embark on an image enhancing drive because the negative publicity is too high. I know the previous executive committee did not do badly at all, but it seems all the good things they did were overshadowed by the negative publicity from the media,” he told the Graphic Sports yesterday.
Mr Commey, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aduana Stars, called for support for the Kwesi Nyantakyi-led administration because he believed it had lot of productive programmes to boost the country’s football.
“My victory is not about individualism but a collective responsibility which lies in the victory speech delivered by Mr Nyantakyi, and that includes his passion to develop juvenile football by attaching old footballers to grassroot football to help solve the problems with our basic football.”
The FA president, according to the Aduana Stars boss, also attaches a lot of importance to the development of the local league for which all stakeholders must all help to develop.
He urged all football-loving people to support and advice the GFA on measures that could promote the Premier League in particular and football in general.
Mr Commey, who previously held different administrative roles in Accra Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC, further expressed his profound appreciation to the chiefs and people of Dormaa-Ahenkro and the Aduana Stars family for their unflinching support for him during the elections, and hoped that he would contribute positively at the ExCo to move football in Ghana to the highest level.
