Black Bombers To Leave For World Championship

Ghanas Black Bombers are scheduled to leave for the upcoming world championship in Qatar, Doha next week. This was disclosed to Ghana Sports Newspaper by the chairman, Gideon Quartey in a telephone interview. According to him, the team went straight to camping after returning from the just ended All African Games in Brazzaville. The bombers await response from the Sports Ministry before they make their trip to Qatar. The world championships will aid their qualification to the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil and a small determination will earn them the qualification mark at the championship. I hope by next week the Ministry together with the National Sports Council will give us the green light to trip to the event in Doha. "This is a qualification to the Rio games and were ready for that battle, Gideon said. "After this world championship, we have another last competition to be held in Cameroon before the Rio Games in Brazil. That one the various weights are specified and so we will have all the weight to compete. That African championship will add some points to our boxers before they enplane to the games. The team is in good shape ahead of the world championship and I believe they will make the mark, He said. Black Bombers heavyweight, Bawa Akankoli, is the only boxer who won bronze for Ghana at the just ended All African Games in Congo Brazzaville.
