PRESS STATEMENT

Re: I AM SAD I AM AN ASHANTI,
WE ARE ALSO ASHAMED YOU CALL YOURSELF AN ASHANTI.

We the members of the association aforementioned finds it quite nonsensical for a woman who claims to be of substance and virtue to voice out such unspeakable, uncultured, uncouth and disgusting words like "I am sad I am an Ashanti". In any case, our elders say, "if the back of your hand is not sweet, it is there you lick", how can a former minister of state act in such an uncultured manner by calling the bluff on Ashantis.

We are trying to restrain ourselves in order not to jump into the gutters with her. We cannot imagine how "a butterfly can call itself a bird". We the youth of Asante over the years have supported any son or daughter of the Asante land regardless of his/her political affiliation; we have always put Asante first. We want to make it clear to Obaapanyin Betty Mould Iddrisu that, "the feeling is mutual" that is, we are equally ashamed to even classify her as one of us. Her ugly performance in the Mills administration kept some of us wondering whether she was indeed one of our own, now that she has been bold enough to "trow her intestines away and filled it with weeds", we will equally voice out the circumstances leading to her birth if she dares us.

There are numerous virtuous women like, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Professor Dolphin, Dr. Jemima Agyare, Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Hon. Patricia Appiagyei and many more from the Asante kingdom who have made us Proud in diverse ways, strangely enough the only woman who claims to be an Asante who has brought  Shame to the great kingdom during her tenure in a public office as attorney general is Obaapanyin Betty Mould. How can a person who can not speak the most popular local dialect (Twi) in the country classify herself as one of us?
She has always branded herself us a non-Asante and so we are not surprised one bit by her words, only that we see her as uncouth.

We conclude by asking some few questions about her,

1. Which town or village does she come from in the kingdom?

2. Which of the Asante clans does she belong to?

The Asante kingdom is greater and bigger than her and her political party and so if she is in, it doesn't make full and if she is out, it doesn't make it half empty, we doubt her legitimacy to the great kingdom, like our motto reads, "wo Kum apem a, apem beba" if  you kill thousand, thousand will come. People go, people come but, the Asante kingdom will live forever.

Long live ASANTE
Long live the GOLDEN STOOL.
Long live Asante Youth
Long live us all.
