Coach Sarpong Backs Mourinho's Decision To Bench Baba Rahman

The former Ghana youth coach has backed the Blues manager on his decision to bench Baba Rahman despite Ivanovic's loss of form. Coach of newly promoted Ghana Premier league side Ebusua Dwarfs, J.E Sarpong claims Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is right to delay the use of defender Abdul Baba Rahman in the Premier League despite his side's struggles after eight games. The 21-year-old joined Chelsea in August from German side Augsburg and has played only two games, in Champions League and Capital One Cup, but is yet to have his league debut, with Mourinho saying the Ghanaian is not fully prepared for the task. Sarpong believes Baba is paying the price for his haste to join the Premier League. Its a worrying situation for everybody but you dont expect any coach in the world to experiment with emerging talents when the team is struggling, Sarpong told Kasapa FM. I think Babas move to Chelsea was done in haste because they should have allowed him to stay at Augsburg for at least another season to mature. But in my view, they rushed and it's accounting for the current situation. If a player who plays in the Bundelisga is deemed not ready for the Premier League, then you can imagine the psyche of the coach. It doesnt appear to me he will use him. In any case no coach will disband his experienced players for new ones when times are tough. Its not practical. Chelsea have lost four out of eight league games and are currently 16th on the log with 8 points, four above relegation. They welcome another relegation-threatened side, Aston Villa, to Stamford Bridge on October 17. Rahman is expected to join Ghana team in the United States of America this week ahead of the international friendly with Canada on 13 October.
