Manhyia North Parliamentary Primaries...Kwabena Agyepong Warned

Kwabena Agyepong Must Not Stampede Manhyia North Parliamentary Primaries Against Court Orders

Our attention have been directed to a press statement from the General Secretary of NPP, Kwabena Agyepong ordering the conduct of Parliamentary primaries in Manhyia North and two other Constituencies under what he refers to as 'Certificate of Urgency'

Without mincing words, we are appalled and disgusted with the manner in which Mr. Kwabena Agyepong ostensibly is trying to stampede the parliamentary primaries in the Manhyia North Constituency.

We are all well aware of a ruling from the Supreme court asking the party to rerun polling station and constituency level elections in the constituency before holding the parliamentary primaries. It is obvious Mr. Kwabena Agyepong has decided to flagrantly disobey the ruling from the highest court of our land. This brazen disregard and disrespect of a ruling from the Supreme Court cannot be glossed over.

There are currently two cases before the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court to be heard on 21st and 27th October respectively, so we ask, why this unwholesome haste?

It portends great danger to the image of the party and we should not be the people advising Mr. Agyepong on the repercussions of such contemptuous act.

It begets reason that at a time the party is dousing tension from our internal matters, Kwabena Agyepong will want to force this raw deal down the throat of delegates and electorates of the constituency. From all indications, Mr. Agyepong ill informed and misled the steering committee into that the legal impasse in the constituency has been duly resolved. How do you resolve a problem without consulting all parties involved?

It is even unheard of and bizarre that a constituency that has a lot of unresolved legal issues be given barely 6 days to pick nominations forms, file nominations, vet aspirants and then hold primaries in the name of a certificate of urgency.

We consequently ask that the National Executive Council of the party as a matter of necessity revokes the directive and endeavor due process in resolving the issues from the Manhyia North constituency before holding the parliamentary primaries.
