NDC Communicators Attend Workshop

Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team in the Ashanti Region have benefited from a three-day capacity building training to sharpen their communication skills so as to better propagate the achievements of the government to the public.

Participants included constituency communicators and their deputies, Public Relations officers of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) and the media monitors of the party.

The event, which was on theme 'Ensuring Victory in 2016; Strategies and Tactics for Communication,' equipped the communicators with improved knowledge in the use of social media, Information Communication Technology tools and the internet, and communicating to persuade.

The resource persons included an ICT expert, Stephen Adingo, Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, Sam George and the national communications officer of the party, Solomon Nkansah.

The Ashanti Regional communications officer of the NDC, Samed Akalilu, noted that the event was the first in the history of the party and aimed to build the capability and confidence of the communicators to sell the party and the government towards winning more votes for the party in next year's general elections.

He said interest shown by members of the party in the region was an indication of the importance attached to the programme, saying that the objective was achieved.

Mr Akalilu disclosed that with the support of some key members of the party, the Regional Communications Department has been resourced with some important tools necessary for effective delivery of its mandate.

Additionally, some of the communicators in the region have been provided with sophisticated mobile phones to enable them discharge their responsibilities efficiently.

The national communications officer, Solomon Nkansah, asked the party's communicators to always be up-to-date on issues, be focused on persuading people to their side, and also respect their audience.
