Passenger Fights British Airways Over Missing TV

The local office of international Airline, British Airways in Accra, is reeling under pressure to produce in a matter of day a 65-inch television set which has mysteriously disappeared from its offices or face the wrath of one of the company’s loyal passengers.

Swiss-based businessman, Enoch Douglas walked into the offices of the New Crusading GUIDE yesterday, understandably upset when he narrated to this reporter the drama and circumstances leading to the disappearance his $ 2000 worth television set.

Enoch Douglas arrived in Ghana last year September, 6, through Madrid on an Iberia Airline; a carrier largely owned by British Airways and was confronted with one of his worst nightmares, being that the airline was unable to deliver his baggage on arrival.

“The TV arrived after three days and I followed up to the BA office in Accra to claim it, only to discover that it had sustained some damages”, he said.

Douglas, after series of fruitless meetings with BA’s local authorities in Accra, over possibilities of compensation left the television set in the care of the company, pending the determination of the matter, which he vowed to pursue relentlessly and traveled abroad.

Back in Switzerland, Douglas, through an Email, reported the matter to authorities in Madrid only to be told that fragile items such as television sets do not qualify for compensation when damaged.

The Airline wrote in a letter authored by Inmaculda Iglesias that: “Thank you for contacting us concerning your case, reference number E14B0620129. Customer care is a fundamental goal for us and it is essential for us to consider each case individually so that we can provide a suitable response.

However, the information that you put forward in your last letter had already been taken into account when your compensation claim was turned down, for which reason we are closing the casedefinitely.

I apologize once again and hope that your next flight with us prove to be satisfactory.”

After his hope for compensation was dashed, Douglas returned to Ghana after a year only to be told by the airline’s representative in Accra that the TV was nowhere to be found. “ I go to their offices very often and all I get is unending stories”

Asked what he intends doing, Douglas said he was talking to his lawyers in Ghana as he seeks to a legal path in seeking redress.

Stay tuned.
