#NDCdecides: Mahama Cleared For Primaries

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cleared President Mahama to stand unopposed as the party’s flagbearer in the upcoming November 7 primaries.

He was vetted at the party’s national headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, by the party’s vetting committee.

The General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said; “we had the opportunity to vet the sole candidate of the NDC President John Dramani Mahama, and he was found to be qualified to contest…he is expected to make more than 50% of the votes to qualify as the candidate,” he noted.

Meanwhile, some 23 other cases from the regional vetting of aspirants referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, were reviewed after which 5 candidates were cleared, 10 disqualified and 5 more put on hold for further deliberations.

Some of the constituencies put on hold for further consideration include, the Nkwanta South Constituency, Subin Constituency, Tema West and Chana Paga constituencies.

The NDC will on November 7 go to the polls to elect parliamentary candidates and their Presidential candidate for election 2016.
