Are We Going To Fuel The Power Barges With Sea Water? - Ursula Owusu Quizzes

Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Madam Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has called on the Mahama government to fix the energy problems confronting Ghanaians.

Speaking on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, Hon. Ursula Owusu posited that the expected 1000 megawatts from power barges by the government this year to augment power supply is not the solution to the energy crises.

According to her, the government owes the energy providers and so must remit her cost to them before the power shortages can be solved.

She noted that even when the power barges are introduced, there will still be the need for crude oil or gas to be used to power the machinery for supply.

So, to her, until the arrears that the government owes are paid to the energy providers; efforts to remedy the situation will remain futile.

Are we going to pour sea water into the power barges or rather crude oil or gas to fire it? Those independent power producers who keep proposing power plants should continue to do it. And when you finish, will you urinate into it to ignite it? Where are the resources?” she sarcastically queried.
