John Ndebugri Tells LMVCA: Allow The EC To Do Its Work If You Cant Go To Court

John Ndebugri, a private legal practitioner has advised pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance [LMVCA] to seek the court if they still maintain Ghana’s voters’ register is bloated.

He noted that the constitution permits such issue to be challenged at the law court – “But not pressuring the EC [Electoral Commission]. That is not right."

The pressure group has been on a campaign demanding the EC to have a new voters’ register before the 2016 general election.

The LMVCA has petition former presidents [John Jerry Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufour] – which they have waded into the debate calling for a new register.

But speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, - John Ndebugri argued that such demand is illegal and must be vetoed.

“After the voter’s register was compiled, it was published in the gazette. So it is prima facie valid until evidence is led to prove that it is not. That evidence is not led in the house of former president Rawlings, or Kufuor or in the meeting room of some group calling itself Let My Vote Count and so on. It is determined in court. If they are not minded to do that, they should allow the Electoral Commission to do its work,” he said.
