2 Men Arrested For Stealing 29 Goats And 2 Sheep

Two men - 43-year-old Nana Kofi Agyekum and Kojo Tease, 42 - are currently in the grips of the Nkoranza Police in the Brong Ahafo Region for stealing 29 goats and two sheep.

The two, according to reports, committed the crime at Bredi and Ayerede, both farming communities near Nkoranza.

The two men, Nana Kofi Agyekum Kumi and Kojo Tease, with a Nissan pick-up with registration number AS 554-13, went to Bredi and Ayerede to steal the goats and sheep, but luck eluded them and they were arrested.

Nana Kofi Agyekum Kumi is currently in police custody while Kojo Tease, who was shot in the arm, is receiving treatment at the St. Theresah's Hospital in Nkoranza.

Mr John Kusi Boadum, an eyewitness to the incident, said: "Around 2am, I heard information from our nearby community Brede that some people had stolen goats and sheep from their community and have loaded them in a Nissan pick-up so we should erect a barrier. Within 10 minutes I heard a gunshot; the youth said they have hit the tyre of the pickup so I told them to sit in my car so that we can chase them. When they saw us they escaped but the youth gave them a hot chase and arrested them and we brought them to the police station," Mr Boadum disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Nkoranza Police Commander, DSP Joseph Owusu, has confirmed the incident to The Finder.

He said one of the suspects who sustained gunshot wounds is on admission at the Nkoranza St. Theresah's Hospital under tight police guard.

DSP Owusu added that the suspect, who has pleaded guilty to the offense, will be processed for court.
