No Sensible NDC Person Will Make Such A Statement - Allotey Jacob Hits Back At NDC Chairman

Central Region Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has fired a salvo at the party’s Eastern Regional Chairman, Bismark Tawiah Boateng for describing the late President Mills’ presidency as a “mistake”.

According to Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the comment by his colleague was borne out of ignorance because “he [Tawiah] is politically naive”. Bismark Tawiah Boateng in a candid confession on Adom FM said the NDC made a 'mistake' by presenting the late John Evans Atta Mills for the 2008 elections.

He revealed that the leadership knew very well that the late President Mills who died some months to the 2012 general elections was ill and could not perform the hefty task required of a President but still presented him just to win power.

“Sometimes I wonder why Mills became the president because it was a total mistake allowing him to run for president and subsequently dying because of ill health...," he said. This has generated a lot of controversy with many especially NDC members questioning the motive for Tawiah Boateng’s comment.

But Allotey Jacobs in an apparent response on Adom News doubted if the Eastern Region NDC Chairman is a true party member. “I don’t believe he is an NDC Chairman; I mean no sensible NDC person will make such a statement” he stressed.

The NDC Central Regional Chairman, who was the protégé of the late Atta Mills, said the statement by Mr. Boateng is most unfortunate.

He said their target as Regional Chairmen is to ensure President John Mahama is retained in power in 2016 to continue the Mills-Mahama legacy and he could not fathom the rationale behind Tawiah Boateng’s gaffe.

Allotey Jacobs called on the Eastern Region Chairman to immediately render an unqualified apology to the party to avoid any sanctions.
